References – Hikers’ Accolades

Throughout the years, we have received many reviews of people who have been on hikes with us, be it in the Alps, in the rest of Europe, or in Nepal.
Here are some of them to give you a better idea what we’re all about. If you would like to talk to any of our past hikers, please contact us, we are more than happy to put you into contact with them.

“Dear Louis
We are back home after completing the TMB last week.
The trip was excellent, the whole family is high spirits and the feeling of accomplishment is overwhelming. The kids (as we) feel everything is achievable, anyplace”¦ anytime”¦
Many thanks for the great organization. In the field Lindsey was excellent, took really good care of us, her communication with us and the children was superb. All of us felt a true part of the day planning and learnt a lot from her. Once on the track we really felt your route planning, accommodation, etc. was truly made with deep understanding of the capabilities of the family and great knowledge of the route and places. All during our tour we felt Alpine interface and particularly Karen were keeping a watchful eye from above so we are comfortable and get the best value accommodation on the route.
Once again many thanks for the organization and a super successful tour.

Zeev Hadar and family

“The Tour TMB ended as programmed by you. And I`m here back home trying to recoup back to my daily life.
Enjoyed the trek with the other American friends, the guides Mr.Mark and Mr. Blaise, who were enormously helpful, cooperative and jolly good fellows. The stopovers, food were excellent. Personally, my feeling clicked with the city or the
village of Courmayeur amongst all. Next, I would like to do the same around the Zermatt or the Eiger after next year.
If you have any plans around these places, please let me be informed.
Thank you so much, greetings from Tokyo.”
Torachan Yogen

” We both keep saying that we wish we were back in your and Louis’ hands –
you both took such amazing care of us! We had the absolute BEST time! We can’t wait to get together again very soon in Colorado and in Europe!
Thank you again so much for our spectacular week.
P.S. Please know that we would love to be references for you. We are already dreaming about our holiday with you next year. We can’t wait to start planning all the details :)”
Deb and Phil Loftin, CO, USA

“Thank you for your kindness and care. We made it to the airport in time and with low level anxiety.
Sleep still eludes me, but at some point this week, I feel certain to be back on track. My secret medicine to function in a sleepless state is — chocolate!!! I am now a full appreciator of its medicinal qualities. I wish both of you much success and harmony. Thank you for making my first hiking experience such a positive and
rewarding one. I will be more than happy to be a reference for you if future clients need to speak to someone about your trips, or interview you mercilessly. I hope our paths will cross sooner than later.”
Myrna Finn, MA, USA

“Just a quick note to let you know how much Brent and I enjoyed the TMB Express. Outstanding in all respects, I would rate all facets of the trip a 10 (on a scale of 10), except for the weather the last 2 days–but, hey, what can one do about that.
Lindsay and Martin are a world-class act and we greatly appreciated their superb efforts and dedication to ensuring our trip was safe and fun for all.
In addition to his yummy lunches, driving the van (and managing the tupperware), Martin provided exceptional comic relief at dinner–always, of course, in his inimitable Brit manner.
Brent and I particularly appreciated Lindsay’s success in arranging for us to look in on the Beaufort cheese “factory”, the stopover at the mountain hut with the wood stove and resident chien, the visit to the cow bell factory outside Chamonix, and especially for inviting us over to their cozy apartment in Finhaut for vin rouge Of course, there’s only one downside to all this – Lindsay and Martin have set the bar too high for any future guide team to effectively compete.
Please accept our most appreciative thanks to all who made this a trip of a lifetime.”

“… We totally loved everything about TMB, Alpine Interface, our terrific guide! – We would recommend your Company in an instant – All the arrangements were handled so professionally, the hotels were excellent, we loved the funkiness of Finhault, the meals were superb and the mountainside lunch stops were delicious and so much fun! Louis, your knowledge of TMB (and everything else) was amazing – We were so impressed with everything you did – I have never seen such care of details to ensure the group had a fantastic adventure – Thanks! Neil did a great job supporting the group – He is a very positive reflection on your Company – Keep him around, he’s wonderful! I hope that we can connect for another adventure some time in the future – Alpine Interface would be our first choice for sure Thanks for making TMB an excellent adventure for us Best regards from Mississauga”
Don Young, Canada

“… As promised, I am writing this e-mail to give you more feedback on the TMB trip I took last week. I want to tell you what a fantastic trip I had. The views on the TMB are spectacular and the weather for the majority of the time during the tour was very nice but the people with Alpine Interface were what make this trip different from other trips I took before. Louis and Karin were both prompt in answering my many questions about the tour and booking even though they were in the middle of moving, setting up new office and expecting new baby any day. Our trekking guide, Lindsay was fantastic, professional, caring and very knowledgeable. She paid attention to our needs and always followed up with helpful information proactively. Our driver, Martin was very attentive and also very knowledgeable. He was always making sure that we have everything we need. The snack pack and picnic lunch brought and packed everyday by Martin were always a real treat.    Dinner was also what I looked forward to after the long hike everyday. We had wonderful dinner in very nice restaurant everyday. I think I ate more good food during this trip than during any of my other trips. The hotels (including the Refuge) were all with different local charm and were all very nice. The views from my hotel rooms were all breath-taking which made the end of day more relaxing.
Overall, I had a wonderful trip and I can’t stop telling everybody around me about the trip and Alpine Interface…”
Nancy Siepman, IL

“…I wanted to thank both of you for a fabulous holiday.   I knew from the initial emails that I had found an outfitter that worked for me and now after the trip I knew I was right.   I enjoyed the TMB and the local experience.   It is obvious that both of you take pride in organizing all aspects of the trip — from the accommodations and food which are representative of each locale, to the route which changes with the group’s ability and weather, to staff (Duncan was great.) and to making yourselves available for minor client needs as searching for boots!   (Someone had to spur the local economy.) Enjoy your break in Crete and visit with family and return to Canada.   I have already starting scoping out trips for next year so I hope to be able to travel with Alpine Interface soon…”
Anna Iacucci, NY

“…Karin, Louis,
I want to send you a few thoughts about our recent trip trekking the Tour Du Mont Blanc (TMB). As I mentioned to you on the phone, overall this trip was exceptional. You are welcome to use this letter in whole or part or to have anyone contact me as a reference. Alpine Interface is a great company and we look forward to more adventures with you. Below are a few of the key things I think made this trip such a success…”
Kevin Ryan, CT, USA

“Hi Karin and Louis!   Just wanted to drop a line and say hi and tell you again how much we enjoyed our trip and how much we appreciated the huge part you played in its success.   I am getting ready to put together a slide show from it and felt so homesick for the summer I could barely stand it…”
Debra Plant, CA, USA

“I want to extend a special thank you to both of you for the wonderful trip that you provided us with. I cannot say enough good about Alpine Interface, and I wish you both all the success possible in your business venture. I was lucky to have such wonderful hiking companions. Lorie was a superb guide, and VV was a delightful driver/lunch-preparer. I will be thinking of VV this December when their addition arrives. It was a delight to meet Lars too.
I also want to thank you for helping me with my lost luggage, and providing me with clothing for the first day. Thank you again, Louie, for helping me get boots and helping Doug pick out a ligher pack. Thanks too for looking after Doug after he had to drop out of the trek. What a wonderful memory this will be. If you need a refererence for future potential clients, it would be my pleasure to contribute. “
Wendell Smith, NY

“Thank you for guiding us through the Alps on the TMB patiently, pointing out the mountains and glaciers and leading us to the places with the best tarts. We had a wonderful 10 days, challenging hiking and great comraderie – what more could anyone want? We had a lot of laughs on our way to some of the greatest menus and food in the world. Thank you so much. “
Deb and Bill Torkildson, MN

“Thank you for the leadership as well as the information you provided for us which made for an interesting and enjoyable hike. The whole trip and experience was spectacular and breathtaking and something we will always remember. Your special attention to Fred’s injuries was greatly appreciated. “
Fred and Gayle Henry, NY

“I was planning to email you today to tell you what a wonderful time I had on the TMB. It isn’t often that your expectations are not simply met, but exceeded.
This was the case with the TMB. You and Louis set the tone by your caring and concerned answers to all of my booking questions. Neil was prompt and pleasant in picking my sister and me up from our hotel at the start of the tour. Charlotta was a most professional, competent and caring trekking guide. She was knowledgeable and pleasant. She did everything possible to ensure that the members of her group got the most from their tour. Peter was an excellent driver. He went out of his way to make things run smoothly and was extremely reliable, pleasant and helpful.
As for the tour itself; the meals were excellent…my sister and I had a hard time deciding which dinner was the best. The hotels were charming and a pleasure to reach after a hard days climb! Charlotta found trails which were challenging but the view always rewarded the effort and, as you mentioned, the weather for much of the tour was spectacular. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the TMB with alpine interface to my friends based on my very positive experience and hope that I will be able to join you in another adventure in the future. Again, thank you for making my holiday so special and enjoyable. “

“Louisa and I wanted to tell you and Louis once again what a WONDERFUL time we had. The ‘regular’ tour would be great, I’m sure, but our “private” tour was even better. All the personal attention — altering the routes to accommodate our abilities, the trip to the museum, the trip to the dentist — was truly impressive. And I got the distinct impression that to you and Louis this was nothing special, just the right way to do things. We were just delighted with the trip, and are happily recommending Alpine Interface to our friends. “
Nora Freeman, NY

“Ben and I have arrived home safely and are now back at work (which is most unpleasant by all accounts!!!). Thank you both so much for a wonderful trip and looking after us so well, we had an absolutely fantastic time. Karin thank you also for organising our train tickets and taking us to the train at such an early hour in the morning. We arrived safely at the airport in perfect time for our flight. “
Christina Gyrn, Australia

“We also would like to thank you & Louis for a wonderful time. We thoroughly enjoyed the scenery, exercise and good food ( including your nice lunches), your company, bantering and your sense of humor. “
Carol + Chris Wong, Vancouver, Canada
“Just a short note to tell you again what a wonderful trip you gave us. You two were exceptionally helpful, kind, and fun to be with. The hiking, though hard at first, was exhilarating. The views (and the climbs) often were breathtaking. we are constantly talking about it to each other and to anyone who will listen. “
Sandy + Morris Schoeneman, NY

Rachel and I want to thank Louie and you for a wonderful trip to the Alps. Louie was a terrific guide who shared much about the Alps, the Swiss people, the flowers and life as a guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him and would highly recommend him to other adventurers. He was careful in guiding us, thoughtful about our daily itinerary and patient when our legs and lungs were debating the next step. We can’t imagine a better guide for the Haute Route! He even delivered clear, beautiful blue skies and warm temperatures”¦it doesn’t get any better!
If we think about another hiking trip in Europe (maybe Italy) we will definitely be in touch. Louie was also helpful about France; Normandy in particular, which we hope to visit”¦maybe next year.

Marshall Rowe

“Hi Louie
Just want to thank you for an awesome time. You all did a GREAT job of showing us your world or at least part of it, and it is a beautiful part of the world. Our accommodations were fun and interesting, I love visiting places with character!! Kudos to all of you!!
I am sure I will be traveling with you again in the future. In the meantime, stay strong, happy, and Blessed!

Lisay Reynolds

“Thanks for the follow up. We had a wonderful trip! Cherries was terrific and I’m not sure how she could have been any better! Aside from her extraordinary energy and great sense of humor, she is very professional and quite sensitive and observant of her clients. She was very good in assessing our level of fitness and when we had issues with our footware. She set a great pace and enhanced the already fabulous trip with her personality.
Sucha had a great time…it was a present for her 50th birthday. I’m so glad you helped me to give that to her.”

Richard VanAllen

“Our group initially planned to go self-guided, but after doing a lot of research hired a guide to lead the trip. It was a great decision. Our guide, Louis Marino from Alpine Interface, has lived in Chamonix for many years; has all the credentials (including certifications from the French and British boards); speaks French and English, and understands German and Italian (his mother is French, his father American); knows the French and Swiss Alps like the back of his hand; and is a good guy (one knows after spending all waking hours over 10 days)..”
Chuck Kaiser, CO, USA

“…Louis, we really enjoyed you and the Switzerland trek.
You mentioned the Slovenia adventure. We may be interested. If not that then something else for sure.
Keep us on the list and let us know what is happening…”
Bill Simington

“I really can’t say too much more about the trip that hasn’t already been said. It was a truly magnificent experience. I am forever indebted to you for making this trip possible. I have done a number of trips with a number of guides, and although slow on the trail, I am fully qualified when I say that you and Alpine Interface are quite simply the best. A trip like this can only be done so well, and you exceeded that standard in every way. “
Hank Holzgrefe Senior, NY

“Thank you very much for providing us a wonderful visit to the Alps. Annie and I both greatly enjoyed our first visit to France and La Suisse. The scenery was tremendous, and your companionship was delightful. Thank you also for arranging for us the extra time at Hotel Eden and the stay at Refuge de Lac Blanc and for helping us to reschedule to adjust for the weather forecast. We found Hotel Eden to be quite charming, and the location was beautiful. Refuge de Lac Blanc was spectacular. “
David Cline, CA

Don’t know about you folks, today I am filled with nostalgia for our trip. Thought I would send you just one of hundreds of great photos — our group shot below the south face of the Matterhorn, taken during the memorable Breuil to Zermatt traverse.
I remember:

– The towering majesty of the Matterhorn and the magnificent scenery
– The spectacular weather and the great photo ops
– The howling wind at the Cime Bianche col
– The beautiful, delicate alpine flowers, especially the gentian
– The great beer and wine along the way, especially on the high terraces
– The great food, especially in Breuil and Zermatt
– Being roped together, across 4 kms of the Theodor glacier with notable crevasses
– The Swiss mountain horn sounding off at sundown, high at the “Hotel du Trift”
– The lively and fun conversations as we hiked
– The team with true grit, that overcame any challengesThanks, once again, Martin, for your leadership in bringing us happily and safely through it all and in contributing to the great collective memories. Hope you made it home to Finhaut safely.
Hendrik Siré
“We had a great trip. You and Jorg really did a great job. The hiking was lots of fun (although I think I was the only one to fall, not one, but three times!) and the food was great. It took me a couple of days to figure out to order less for dinner. Those meals were huge! I found the history very interesting also. I guess I didn’t really think about that part of the trip in advance and didn’t realize the actual fighting took place right there. The book Jorg recommended was very interesting and informative too. I came back to 14 hour days last week, down to 12 this week so far and Larry is re-shingling part of our roof so we are both very busy. I am attaching a few photos I took. Am sending the ones of Anna to her. She is a great little hiker and it was fun being with her again. Well, to future hikes!
