Day 1: ARRIVAL DAY, CHAMONIX
Trip Briefing and Welcome Dinner in Chamonix.

Day 2: VALLORCINE
Hike from Chamonix to Les Praz, and take the cable-car up to La Flégère. Access one of the Alps’ most stunning vistas at the Lac Blanc. Hearty lunch at the Lac Blanc Refuge before making our way north towards the hamlet of Vallorcine, one of the gems of the Chamonix Valley. Overnight in Vallorcine.

Day 3: CHAMPEX-LAC
Early morning taxi transfer to Col Forclaz in Switzerland.
Two hiking options today: hike the more gentle Bovine Trail to Champex-Lac, or up  and over the Fenêtre d’Arpette with views over the Trient glacier,  before descending to our lake side hotel.

Day 4: VERBIER
Transfer from Champex-Lac to Verbier, time to explore the Swiss mountain resort, followed by a  gourmet lunch   in an alpine restaurant with local ingredients, and a hike up to the Cabane de Mont Fort.

Day 5: CABANE PRAFLEURI
One of the more arduous hikes of the trip from the Cabane du Mont Fort  to the Cabane de Pra Fleuri. High above tree-line the entire day, our walk takes us through rugged post glaciated terrain over 3 passes and finally to the refuge.

Day 6: AROLLA
A little bit of everything: high alpine mineral world, walking along the Dix Lake with first glimpses  of the Matterhorn, enjoying coffee and pie at the Dix hut, followed by a descent through lush Arolla pine forests.

Day 7: GRIMENTZ
Transfer from Arolla to Les Hauderes by Post bus, with a stop for a quick coffee, then on to La Sage. Our hike takes us over the gentle Col du Torrent  down to the turquoise Moiry lake, and on to Grimentz, a small mountain village with many homes dating back to the 16th Century.

Day 8: GRUBEN
Leisurely breakfast, before a taxi transfer across the valley  to St. Luc and the funicular, giving our legs a little rest.  Over the Meidpass down to Gruben, another little hamlet, only inhabited during the summer months. Gruben is the linguistic border between French and German speakers in the Valais Canton.

Day 9: ZERMATT
On our penultimate day of the walk, we cross several passes before entering the Mattertal and its many 4000m peaks including the Dom, Weisshorn, and Alphubel. Our descent is facilitated by a private 4-person cable car, strung high above the valley floor bringing us to St Niklaus and our train ride to Zermatt.

Day 10: ZERMATT: HÖHBALMEN, TRIFT
One of the highlights: A balcony day-hike along the North Face of the Matterhorn: Alphorn, apple pie,  home-made ice tea, and the most stunning views await us! The perfect way to end the Haute Route.

Day 11: DEPARTURE
After a leisurely breakfast, take time and enjoy Zermatt, before leaving.

  • All accommodation
  • All breakfasts, lunches and dinners
